Visual signature of the 2016 season: a meeting between visual arts and music

The artwork is the subject of a silent auction to benefit the Festival

Lamèque, N. B., Thursday, July 7, 2016:  The work of the Acadian painter Pauline Dugas used as the  visual signature for the 2016 season of the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival is offered for sale through a silent auction.

The featured artwork on the poster is entitled "D'ajours et d'herbes". It is part of the series “Souffle pour souffle” that includes 18 paintings created by Pauline Dugas and inspired by listening to the Mass in B Minor by Bach.

According to the Festival artistic director, flautist Vincent Lauzer, this partnership shows a close relationship with other art forms.  “We are pursuing the tradition of the Festival to unite music and visual arts” he said.

The artwork is painted on watercolor paper (9 in X 6 in) and presented in a neutral white mat (17 in X 14 in).  Anyone wishing to participate in the auction is invited to bet by contacting the Festival office by telephone (506-344-3261) or email (baroque@lameque.ca).

The bids start at $280 and will close on Saturday, July 30, 2016.

Further details about the silent auction and concerts are available on the Website at www.festivalbaroque.com.  Tickets for our concerts and events are on sale.
