The countdown is on: the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival begins in one month! 

43rd season: “Royal Concerts”

Lamèque, N. B., Monday, June 25, 2018: The 43rd season of the Lamèque International Baroque Music Festival begins in one month. This celebration of early music will bring together some fifty artists and will be held from July 26 to 28, 2018.  The program includes seven concerts and events, including a pre-Festival musical happy hour, presented on July 25, and a young audience concert.

The grand winner of the 2017 Mathieu Duguay Early Music Competition returns to Lamèque for a recital with lutenist Sylvain Bergeron. 

Young Audience Concert: "Lute, Friend of Kings", for people of all ages!

Thursday, July 26, 2018, 2 p.m., Notre-Dame-des-Flots Church, Lamèque

The Festival is proud to partner with Jeunesses Musicales Canada for the presentation of this concert where young and old will discover the lute and theorbo as well as the repertoire dedicated to these two instruments.

In the company of harpsichordist Luc Beauséjour and his accomplices, music lovers are invited to discover the work of François Couperin, musician at the court of Louis XIV. 

“The organ according to the great Handel”

Friday, July 27, 2018, 7:30 p.m., Saint-Jérôme Church, Shippagan

The Mission Saint-Charles Orchestra and Luc Beauséjour join forces to perform the organ concertos by Georg Friedrich Handel, a famous composer of German origin. 

Closing concert: “Ode to Purcell”

Five soloist singers as well as the Mission Saint-Charles Choir and Orchestra conducted by Ivars Taurins present two great works by composer Henry Purcell: "Come ye Sons of Art" and "Hail! Bright Cecilia! ».

A quintet of emerging musicians presents instrumental works written by Johann Sebastian Bach, today considered the greatest composer of the early 18th century.

The Montreal-based ensemble La Cigale dedicates its concert to Irish, Scottish and Welsh composers of the Baroque period and creates a joyful fusion of learned and popular styles, ancient and modern.
